Watch the Golden Opportunities Around You

“If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return.” –¬†Hebrews 11:15

Golden opportunities usually present themselves when we long for something. And we often know what our focus is by the opportunities that come our way.

Have you ever noticed when you want to buy a particular car that you begin to see it everywhere. Prior to that time you never noticed how many cars like that were on the road! Yet the minute you focus on it you see them everywhere.

I’m reminded of when my brother and I wanted to start investing in rental houses. That’s all we thought about for months, and during that time we had dozens of opportunities surface that we had never seen before. Unfortunately for us, we were two years ahead of a downturn in the market, so we lost a lot of money by taking advantage of all the opportunities that came our way.

As leaders we must be very careful about the opportunities that present themselves to us. We need to be self-aware enough to see if they are simply a bi-product of off-centered focus, or if they are indeed golden opportunities.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE: ¬†Keep a close eye on the opportunities around you. Some of them are golden, yet others are simply a bi-product of off-centered focus. What are you focusing on today?
