“I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one.” Ezekiel 22:30 NASV
This morning I was meditating on the role a Christian plays in culture. I was led to this verse and began thinking about the grave responsibility men & women of faith have in standing in the gap for the land. It’s not all about us – our personal life and happiness – we have a responsibility to the land because God created it, and we have His design for human flourishing. We can’t be silent or sit still when danger is around. We will stand in the gap.
We must be like firemen – when the flames start roaring and others are running from the heat, we run into the heat for the preservation of the land and the protection of the people.
We must be like soldiers – when the bullets start flying and others are running from the fray, we run toward the bullets for the preservation of the land and protection of the people.
We must be like police officers – when the bad guys are attacking and others are hiding for safety, we show up and chase the bad guys down for the preservation of the land and protection of the people.
We must be like emergency medical technicians – when the blood starts flying and death is in the air, we show up to stop the bleeding and bind the wounds!
The list goes on…yet the point is that WE (Christians) are supposed to be part of the solution and not the problem. We need to read Ezekiel 22:30, take it to heart, and stand in the gap.
Will you join thousands of Christians around America to stand #whateverthecost?
