en gedi smallThen He said to me, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost. He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.”

Revelation 21:6-7

In this passage God gives us a glimpse of the utopia those who profess Christ get to one day enjoy.  Only those who overcome the attacks of the devil – the “conquerors” – will experience it. But what’s interesting is the “water of life” that’s mentioned just before this.

Remember how God placed two trees in the Garden – The tree of the knowledge of good and evil and the tree of life.  Obviously these trees had roots, and these roots were getting water from somewhere. Adam was kicked out of the Garden because he ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but in order to keep him from eating of the tree of life, God banished him from the garden. People to this day still search for that tree because they desire eternal life, but we’ve already found eternal life through a tree – a dead one that the Giver of eternal life hung on – the cross.

So what about the tree of life?  When we place our faith in Christ we don’t have to eat from this tree, we actually drink from the Water that feeds it!  And when we drink from this Water it will flow through us so others may drink from it as well.

There’s only one qualification for us to drink from this amazing water – and that is to be thirsty! We don’t have to strategize or anything, we just have to thirst for it.

So, what’s the key to being a conqueror and overcoming the devil so you can experience eternal life? Stay thirsty and drink from the Water of life. So let’s be Thirsty Conquerors today.
