“My people are destroyed from a lack of knowledge.” Hosea 4:6a
“We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God.” 2 Cor 10:5a
“>When it comes to the knowledge of God, we can either destroy ideas set against it, or we can be destroyed by a rejection of it. One can either destroy or be destroyed. Nobody is neutral in this fight – you are either being destroyed (and probably don’t know it) – or you are destroying (and living in victory). The key to Satan’s battle strategy is simple, and it’s found in the above two verses.
Satan is always fighting against the knowledge of God. Why? “You shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32. When you have the knowledge of God (Truth) you are set free from sin and the stronghold of Satan. The devil doesn’t like this.
First is apathy toward the knowledge of God. Who cares, right? We don’t need God. It doesn’t matter what happens when we die. Eat, drink, and be merry. And the list goes on. We don’t seek God. We don’t hunger and thirst for Him; and, as a result, we are destroyed and don’t even realize it. It’s like a frog in boiling water. A lack of knowledge destroys.
Second is setting up a fortress against the knowledge of God. When the knowledge of God is forgotten (or lessened) in a person’s life – or in a nation – then Satan sets up a fortress against it. In other words, he takes the territory.
A fortress is built when an invading army conquers territory. From that fortress more raids on additional territory are delivered…and the battle continues. Yet fortresses are also places of defense. And the only time defense is needed is when another invading army (maybe even the one that lost the territory in the first place) comes to destroy it.
Today, there is an overwhelming lack of the knowledge of God both in the church and in the nation. As a result, Satan is destroying lives with little to no resistance. And even worse, he’s setting up fortresses against the knowledge of God in our minds and in every sphere of culture. This includes the church.
There is hope. We don’t have to be destroyed – we have the power to destroy! The key is found in 2 Corinthians 10:4 – “for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.”
As the Battle Hymn of the Republic so clearly states, “His truth is marching on.” It’s time to start destroying some fortresses of Satan!
